The Spatial Series is a collection of vibrant LED sculptures designed to play with light and motion to bring spaces to life.
These large-scale interactive installations are placed in the heart of communities to help build discoverable cities, create joyful moments, and just make life more interesting.
Sculptures
Each sculpture is a unique arrangement of LEDs designed to explore the movement of light in a different way. While a sculpture may be part of multiple installations, the interactive visualizations that it creates are specific to the space it occupies.

001 Void
Void is a large rectangular matrix of 21,000 LED's designed to play with light and complex patterns across space and time. It draws viewers in with its 3D visualizations that are controlled in real-time, as they run the entire length of the 51 foot long installation.

002 Wave
Wave is a large bending wall of 12,000 LEDs designed to disperse light across as large a distance as possible. The massive size of this installation immerses viewers in waves of light that reflect and highlite the intricate details of the space.

About The Spatial Series
The Spatial Series comes out of a desire to bring the latest in light-based, large-scale, interactive art from around the world, to our local communities.
The unleased or underutilized buildings that are scattered throughout our cities present the perfect opportunity to host these installations, creating discoverable art that invites people to explore and interact with the spaces they live in.
The Sculptures
Large-scale LED sculptures are designed to explore new ways of using light and movement in space, acting as a canvas that can be customized to fit different locations.
The Spaces
Spaces are selected based on their architectural characteristics, location within the city, and viewing access to the public - such as a large facade of windows that allow viewing from the outside.
The Installations
The architectural details of the space influence the specific sculpture that is choosen to activate it, and a unique set of interactive visualations are created for the installation.

The Artist
I'm Matt - A multi-media artist from Waterloo, working primarily with large scale LED installations to explore how light and motion play with space and time.
I bring over 15 years of digital design and development experience into my art installations and look to create pieces that push the bounds of what is possible, and bring wonder and interactivity to the public realm.
